  are you reticent to express your opinion when it comes to religion or politics?.

  when we were jws , we had to be so careful that we didn’t stumble anyone.

  are you comfortable saying that you don’t agree with someone or something even if it appears you are in the minority?

  With my friends - no not afraid. With strangers - I do not. People are crazy right now, especially if you are conservative.

  Do You Believe Polls Saying Trump Will Lose To Biden?

  a new fox poll says biden is up by 12 percentage points.

  of course, most other polls say trump will be trounced this time around.. do you think the polls might be right this time?

  so a couple of weeks ago my wife (who is an active jw) got a delivery of apples, oranges, potatoes, carrots and onions.. the story i heard was that the "branch bought a bunch of food that would go to waste and was delivering it".. i am in california and a friend of mine in another cong.

  50 or so miles away had the same thing happen.. a few days ago we got another delivery and as a matter of fact my wife was asked if she could "help jehovah with delivering his gifts".

  unfortunately she is in poor health and unable to so so.. anyway, the story seems fabricated to me and i am wondering what is really going on.. does anybody have any ideas?

  They are well within their rights to possess and distribute the boxes - there’s no illegality or other smoking gun here to go to the media with. While what they are doing may not be exactly what was intended it wouldn’t rise to fraud.

  It’s more just misleading their members than anything nefarious.

  It’s not “stealing from the USDA”. Any 503c entity can apply to be a distributor. Why lie about where the food is coming from (in this instance)?

  I actually think it’s the first time I have ever heard of WT providing some sort of relief for their members so I guess that’s a positive. It’s an attempt to make themselves look good to their members and I bet will be used to garner donations in the future.

  Doctor Who - I’m not sure about your situation, but I’ve seen the box given to my family member.

  Biahi - you are correct it is the USDA program “Farmers to Families” it’s meant to be for food banks and religious organizations that support them - but as we all know that’s not how the JWs work.

  Members of my family that are well off also got a box delivered to them from the “circuit” on the east coast. Not saying it’s not a good program but the JWs are giving the boxes to only their members regardless of need.

  i hope that within the next several months we will get back to some type of normalcy.

  will restaurants ever get filled again?

  will you ever be able to sit at a bar or go to a concert or broadway show?.

  Where I live things are back to “normal” enough that it doesn’t feel like we are under house arrest. I’ve been out to eat, went to the salon, did some shopping for fun. All of the large events are cancelled but smaller events are being allowed.

  I’m waiting for the rest of the country to catch up so we can rebook the vacations we had to cancel. 2021 is looking like a good year to have some fun.🤞

  I was born in. But my parents both came from dysfunctional and/or abusive homes. Both had recently experienced trauma and then the Witnesses showed up. They were both naive and terribly damaged.

  Infidelity amongst JWs

  does there seem to be a higher incidence of infidelity amongst the jws?.

  my brother, who is an active jw and ministerial servant, has an elder friend who was recently disfellowshipped for having an affair with another sister in the hall.

  it turns out this sister was divorced a few years earlier from a "worldly" man who had an affair on her.

  I knew two couples that swapped spouses on a semi regular basis - all four were reproved. Now all are divorced.

  Then a hall I went to was short on elders so elders were sent to help. Oh boy! Elder 1 was removed within 6 months for cheating, they stayed together.

  Elder 2 was then sent and within 6 months his wife left him for a worldly guy she met in field service.

  Elder 3 was then moved in. His wife got a little too close to one of the young pioneer brothers - bullied a sister that liked said young pioneer - until that sister was effectively shunned from all social activities. Then the married sister slept with young pioneer brother.

  In my “worldly” circle of friends for the past 20 years I have never seen anything even remotely like that.

  I hate to break it to you but a virus or other disease is not sent by god to teach us a lesson. The next pandemic won’t be either.
